The Nikkei Average temporarily fell to ¥64,832.10, down by more than approximately ¥1,500 from the previous day.
Buying to cover positions became prominent in afternoon trading, and the index rebounded by more than ¥1,000 from the morning session low, rising to ¥65,849.50.
The Nikkei Average, a benchmark for Japan's stock market, was shown at 65,847.88 points.
