New York-based Japanese entertainer and investor Matsui Kazuyo (松居一代), 69, expressed her views on her blog regarding large-scale unauthorized access and personal information leaks occurring in Japan.
Matsui said Japan's security was “far too defenseless,” citing online banking as an example and describing Japan's defenses as leaving it vulnerable to attack by professional groups overseas. She indicated that she saw a significant gap compared with security overseas.
Saying she had anticipated this situation, she explained that she had already stopped trading with Japanese securities firms, that her account balance was ¥0, and that she had withdrawn her cash. She speculated that further cyberattacks would occur and urged Japanese people to become more aware of the need to protect their own money.
