アップガレージ, which operates a reuse business for car and motorcycle parts and accessories, has introduced PayPay Money Light as a new way to receive purchase payments without carrying cash. The service was introduced on 24 September 2026 and is available at all company-operated stores.
The initiative comes against the backdrop of the government's push for cashless payments and digital transformation, with the aim of improving convenience as the reuse market expands. After appraisal, customers can scan the QR code displayed at the store and receive PayPay Money Light instantly.
The process is to select PayPay as the payment method after appraisal, scan the QR code displayed by a staff member with a smartphone, and have the payment credited immediately. The service is highlighted as allowing customers to avoid carrying cash and use the funds for their next purchase or other purposes.
Looking ahead, usage has remained high at fully cashless stores despite the large number of customers who prefer cash, and demand for PayPay Money Light is reportedly increasing for small-value purchases of everyday parts.
The company has been focused on its reuse business since its founding in 1999 and is also considering global expansion.
