The Nikkei Volatility Index (Nikkei VI) fell on the 14th from the previous day. Although the market followed gains in US stocks, it remained wary of short-term overheating during trading hours.
Nikkei VI fell 0.69 from the previous day to 30.96 on the 14th. It traded at a high of 32.68 and a low of 29.98. Buying led the Tokyo market, following gains in the major indexes in the previous day's US stock market. Nikkei 225 futures opened higher.
Although uncertainty remains over the outlook for the situation in the Middle East, crude oil futures prices steadied in overseas markets, while lower US long-term yields also provided reassurance. At the same time, concerns about short-term overheating emerged after Nikkei 225 futures rose ¥2,710 in their fourth consecutive session of gains.
Nikkei VI traded mostly above the previous day's level during trading hours, but turned lower toward the close.
