Following Elevance Health's increase of 2026 diluted EPS guidance to at least US$22.00, investors are focusing on the backdrop to its recent earnings improvement and financial strategy.
In the latest quarter, Elevance Health's revenue and net income increased year on year, and full-year EPS guidance was raised. As a result, the company's business strategy is being viewed as rational in the short term.
The short-term focus has shifted to whether medical cost pressure in ACA and Medicaid can be contained and margins stabilised as Carelon gains momentum. Margin compression has been identified as a realistic risk, and the effectiveness of each measure is expected to affect the bridge to earnings.
According to the latest data, Elevance Health raised its 2026 diluted EPS guidance to at least US$22.00. This has put the company's ability to execute in Medicaid, Medicare Advantage and Carelon under scrutiny. In addition, 2029 revenue is forecast at US$211.4 billion, with profit of US$760 million.
Meanwhile, concerns over Medicaid pressure remain, and a more cautious view in some forecasts puts 2029 revenue at flat and profit at approximately US$710 million. The new EPS guidance and developments in Carelon's operations could lead to these forecasts being rebuilt.
