The Nikkei 225 continued its advance, ending the 26th’s trading at ¥66,262, up ¥405 from the previous day. As expectations for an early Bank of Japan rate hike grew, buying in the financial sector prevailed.
Selling led in the morning, particularly in AI- and semiconductor-related stocks, and the Nikkei 225 fell more than ¥460 at one point, but it subsequently recovered.
Some stocks that had become relatively undervalued attracted renewed buying, with Advantest and SoftBank Group among those bought.
Domestic-demand stocks, led by pharmaceuticals, rose steadily on the back of solid earnings.
