Results for the cumulative second quarter of the fiscal year ending February 2027, announced after trading ended on the 13th, showed revenue of ¥213.821 billion, down 2.8% from the previous year, operating profit of ¥26.813 billion, down 10.5%, and net income of ¥17.379 billion, down 5.3%. Selling pressure has emerged in response.
The department store business continued to be affected by lower revenue and profit, owing to the aftereffects of the Osaka-Kansai Expo and the impact of sales-floor closures associated with major renovations at Daimaru Umeda. The developer business also posted lower revenue and profit as large orders received in the previous year fell away.
The SC (shopping center) business, meanwhile, posted higher revenue, benefiting from strong renovations at Shibuya PARCO and the opening of Haera. Overall operating profit nevertheless declined substantially, due in part to the recording of losses on business restructuring.
Based on the reported figures and the factors behind them, views are spreading that the company’s profitability improvement has been delayed in the interim period.
