ダイイチ of Arao has extended its nori net manufacturing technology to safety nets for construction sites. It also manufactures ball-stop nets for sports facilities and maintains the leading domestic market share.
Headquartered in Arao, Kumamoto Prefecture, ダイイチ commands an 80% domestic market share in nori nets, which are used in nori cultivation. Since its founding, the company has incorporated feedback from fishermen into product improvements, repeatedly refining its designs to enhance net durability and support nori growth. Today, it has accumulated expertise not only in nori nets but also in safety nets for construction sites and industrial nets, and is equipped to handle more than 1,000 specifications.
One of its core businesses is safety nets for construction sites, which draw on its nori net manufacturing technology. The nets have been used at the Tokyo Skytree construction site, in restoration work following the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake, and in the construction and expansion of semiconductor plants, helping to stabilize demand. President Tanaka Nobuo (田中 信雄) says that the company’s system of listening directly to customers is the driving force behind quality improvements.
Another growth area is the manufacture of ball-stop nets for sports facilities. The company has supplied nets used at ballparks in Kyushu, the Kanto region and the Kansai region, and is expanding its market in response to increased demand for outdoor activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. It intends to continue developing high-quality new products that deliver high customer satisfaction.
The company has approximately 270 employees and expects net sales of approximately ¥9 billion for the fiscal year ending March 2026. Although it is strongly associated with nori nets, the company changed its name to its current name around its 70th anniversary, with the aim of expanding its business scope and ensuring business continuity.
