Automotive-parts maker TOYODA GOSEI announced plans to build a new plant at the Bidkin Industrial Park near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra, western India. The plant will mainly produce interior and exterior components such as bumpers, as well as safety-system products including airbags and steering wheels. The investment is expected to total approximately 5.758 billion rupees (approximately ¥9.5 billion).
The new plant will be operated by TOYODA GOSEI South India through a joint venture with local company Uno Minda. It will also produce functional components such as resin fuel-filler pipes. The facility will be TOYODA GOSEI's 7th location in India.
The site will cover approximately 78,400 square meters, with a total building area of approximately 29,200 square meters. The company expects to employ approximately 570 people by 2030.
The investment is intended to support Toyota Kirloskar Motor, or TKM, as it expands production capacity, and operations are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2029.
Demand for small cars and SUVs is growing in India. TOYODA GOSEI currently has 6 plants and 1 technical center in the country.
