Nippon BS Broadcasting reported revenue of ¥11.9 billion for the fiscal year ended August 2026, up 0.9% year on year, while operating profit fell 8.4% to ¥1.77 billion and net income fell 3.5% to ¥1.299 billion. The increase in expenses was mainly due to higher content investment.
Nippon BS Broadcasting announced its consolidated results for the fiscal year ended August 2026. Revenue was ¥11,921.72 million, up 0.9% from the previous fiscal year, operating profit was ¥1,769.39 million, down 8.4% year on year, and net income attributable to owners of the parent was ¥1,298.52 million, down 3.5%. The main factor was an increase in expenses associated with higher content investment. The earnings report highlighted this point.
Revenue from the broadcasting business was ¥9,989.56 million, down 2.0% from the previous fiscal year. Revenue from spot advertising and mail-order sales increased, but airtime sponsorship revenue was affected by weak performance in the shopping category. Programming initiatives included expanding golf programming and drama slots and revamping news programs. The ANIME+ anime programming block broadcasts approximately 40 titles each quarter.
The expansion of the IP and anime businesses drove overall earnings. Revenue from other businesses was ¥1,932.17 million, up 19.3%. Higher revenue from streaming platforms and investment dividends from anime production committees contributed to the increase, as did events and new businesses. The company is also expanding into areas outside broadcasting, including drama adaptation projects, online lotteries and pop-up stores.
For the fiscal year ending August 2027, the company forecasts revenue of ¥12,774 million, up 7.1% from the previous fiscal year, operating profit of ¥2,103 million, up 18.9%, ordinary profit of ¥2,262 million, up 21.0%, net income of ¥1,541 million, up 18.7%, and a year-end dividend of ¥35. Strengthening the IP and anime businesses is cited as a factor supporting profit growth.
