On 1 October, Welneo Sugar absorbed its consolidated subsidiary Toyo Sugar in a merger and launched a new management structure. This reorganised the sugar production and supply system while maintaining a structure encompassing the company’s own factories nationwide and jointly operated production facilities.
Amid continued sluggish growth in demand for sugar, industry consolidation and factory rationalisation among major companies are progressing. Based on its medium-term plan, Welneo Sugar is focusing on strengthening the Sugar foundation and expanding Food & Wellness.
The merger added polyphenol materials such as rutin and hesperidin to materials including oligosaccharides and cyclodextrin, creating a diverse product lineup. President Yamamoto (山本) stated that the company would pursue synergies from the integration and strengthen its business foundation.
The company is considered to have entered a new stage in which it will pursue overall optimisation while integrating the different corporate cultures and enhance the benefits of integrating procurement, production, sales and logistics.
