Sony Network Communications and Fiber Gate announced that they will launch a wholesale service for multi-unit residential properties using NURO Hikari infrastructure on 1 September. The service is designed for multi-unit residential properties and features dedicated in-building lines extending to each housing unit, with 2 Gbps and 10 Gbps plans available. The companies are also considering an all-units bundled service that would run fiber-optic cables directly from common areas to each unit.
Sony Network Communications has developed a wholesale service for multi-unit residential properties using NURO Hikari infrastructure, and Fiber Gate will launch a new service based on it. The service will launch on 1 September 2026 and is intended for multi-unit residential properties.
The service's key feature is the installation of dedicated lines within the building extending to each housing unit. The companies say that not sharing lines with other units will provide a more comfortable communications environment. The service can also serve as a differentiating feature for owners of multi-unit residential properties when recruiting tenants.
The two companies formed a business alliance in April 2025 and have worked to address bottlenecks in the communications environment of multi-unit residential properties. On 21 August 2026, they signed a capital and business alliance agreement, further strengthening their relationship.
Going forward, in addition to the existing model based on individual contracts, the companies plan to develop an all-units bundled service for new-build properties and other buildings that adopts an all-fiber wiring method, running fiber-optic cables directly from the common areas of an apartment building to each housing unit.
