The Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) has launched a project to recruit private-sector talent in cooperation with companies as part of its organizational reform. Working with BizReach, which operates a career-change website, it aims to hire personnel who will play key roles in finance and operations.
Positions under consideration include a chief financial adviser and an event director to oversee the local operations center at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. These roles are intended to support the formulation of a medium-term financial plan and strengthen organizational management.
Through the initiative, the JOC has indicated its intention to review a structure that has relied on medal wins as a KPI for sports organizations. The aim is said to be to enhance financial and operational expertise by utilizing private-sector talent.
According to interviews with Ota Yuki (太田 雄貴), there is a shared recognition that the organizational transformation is being driven by the need to create value beyond medals and upgrade on-the-ground operations.
