In FISCO's stock market flash report, stocks including SOMPO, Japan Post Insurance and SWCC showed movements ranging from sharp rebounds to steep declines. Reports of premium revisions, earnings-related outlooks and plans to expand asset规模 were cited as catalysts.
According to FISCO's stock and corporate report dated 25 August, stocks including Advantest continued to be influenced by SOX-related movements, while SOMPO, Japan Post Insurance and SWCC successively attracted market attention. Different catalysts were cited for each stock, resulting in mixed movements across the insurance, financial and materials sectors.
SOMPO rebounded sharply, with reports that it would raise auto insurance premiums by an average of around 5% in January 2027 cited as a background factor. Rising vehicle repair costs and parts prices, as well as higher labor costs resulting from a shortage of mechanics, were also identified as factors supporting the increase.
Meanwhile, SWCC rebounded sharply after the market responded positively to progress in expanding sales and improving profitability in its first-quarter earnings outlook, which exceeded expectations. Expectations were also expressed for further growth potential in light of the medium-term business environment.
Japan Post Insurance rebounded sharply. A report based on an interview with its president said the size of the real estate fund operated through a jointly funded company with Mitsui & Co. would double from approximately ¥200 billion to approximately ¥400 billion. The company was also expected to strengthen its sales operations through the use of AI and digital technologies.
