The Nikkei 225 is trading ¥413 higher. Advantest, Kioxia Holdings, and SoftBank Group are the main contributors to the gain, while attention is building ahead of the release of U.S. economic data.
The Nikkei 225 was up ¥413 from the previous day as of 2:50 p.m. Advantest, Kioxia Holdings, and SoftBank Group were the top contributors to the index's rise. Fast Retailing, KDDI, and Sony Group, meanwhile, provided less support.
By sector, nonferrous metals, marine transportation, metal products, glass and stone products, and construction posted notable gains, while pulp and paper, wholesale trade, pharmaceuticals, insurance, and retail trade led the declines.
The market is extending its gains. In the United States, the August New York Fed Empire State Manufacturing Index and the National Association of Home Builders' NAHB Housing Market Index for the same month are scheduled to be released tonight.
Fisco reports that market activity ahead of the release of U.S. economic data appears to be influencing the Nikkei 225's movement.
