The new project "Nippon Myaku-kei," combining the official character "Myaku-Myaku" with local specialties and traditional culture from Japan's 47 prefectures, launches today. A motif will be assigned to each prefecture, with original merchandise to be rolled out and sold through official stores in stages.
The 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo Master License Office (2025MLO) launched the new project "Nippon Myaku-kei" on 6 November 2026, combining the official character "Myaku-Myaku" with motifs associated with each of Japan's prefectures.
The motifs corresponding to the 47 prefectures include a wide range of local specialties, traditional culture and scenery, such as apples, Akita dogs, Edomae sushi, Wajima lacquerware, Uji matcha, takoyaki and Lake Biwa. Forty-seven new Myaku-Myaku characters will be created.
These motifs will be rolled out nationwide as original "Nippon Myaku-kei" merchandise and are scheduled to go on sale in stages at official stores.
