The reuse event held on 7 and 8 August 2026 was conducted with the support of the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, with 54 companies from across industries participating. ブックオフグループホールディングス served as a member of the event’s organizing committee, with the aim of broadening awareness that reuse contributes to an enjoyable and fulfilling lifestyle. Ten companies’ booths and an R-LOOP unwanted-item collection box were set up at the venue, providing visitors with an opportunity to experience reuse.
During the event, elementary school students and their parents or guardians visited booths operated by reuse companies and took part in practical experiences, including learning how appraisals work and fitting parts to cars. In a survey of visitors, 100% said their understanding of reuse had deepened, while 98% said they wanted to practice reuse in their daily lives.
Information was also disseminated outside the venue through social media and the participating companies’ services, and supporting companies continued efforts to raise awareness of reuse through campaigns. Attendance over the 2 days totaled 514, including 262 elementary school students and their parents or guardians, while the R-LOOP collection volume reached 29 kg.
On the first day of the event, representatives of the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry spoke about how reuse contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creating a circular economy. The speakers introduced the “actually” stories behind the participating companies’ businesses, giving children an opportunity to understand the value of familiar items and their connection with the people who will use them next.
