TANTO TANTO Kagoshima will begin serving the new-style Pizza Contemporanea from 18 September. The pizza is known for its large, puffed crust and light texture.
Create Restaurants, a subsidiary of create restaurants holdings inc., announced that it will begin serving the new-style Pizza Contemporanea at TANTO TANTO Kagoshima in Kagoshima City. The launch date is Friday, 18 September 2026, and the restaurant will offer a new style that builds on traditional Neapolitan pizza.
Pizza Contemporanea is made with high-hydration dough and long, low-temperature fermentation, producing a light texture and a large, airy cornicione, or crust. The crust is intended to be cut into pieces with scissors when eating.
The toppings include Kagoshima-grown barley miso, Satsuma striped eggplant and seasonal citrus, offering fresh flavours based on locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant is designed as a refined space for adults to enjoy with wine, suitable for lunch, dinner and gatherings among women.
Examples of the menu include a Margherita-style pizza made with mozzarella from Kanoya kotobuki cheese, ragù with meaty shiitake mushrooms and barley miso, and a rich Americanine sauce with Satsuma amaebi shrimp and arugula. The restaurant is located on the 5th floor of Amu Plaza Kagoshima in Chuocho, Kagoshima City. Its hours are 11:00–15:30 and 17:00–22:00 (last orders at 21:00), with direct access from JR Kagoshima-Chuo Station.
