Google has announced Pixel Tag, a new lost-item tracker scheduled to launch in Japan in November. It will be priced at ¥5,010 per unit or ¥16,940 for a set of 4, including tax.
In addition to the Find Hub network and Bluetooth, Pixel Tag supports ultra-wideband (UWB), allowing users to check the tag’s distance and direction on screen when paired with a compatible device. Find Hub consists of more than 1 billion Android devices and provides a system for locating lost items across a wide area. Location data is end-to-end encrypted, and the device also includes an unknown-tracker detection feature.
The device measures 46.1 × 28 × 5.4 mm and weighs 11.8 g. It has IP67-rated water and dust resistance and uses a CR2032 battery that users can replace themselves. In addition to Bluetooth connectivity, it offers left-behind alerts, a feature that plays a sound, and a feature that makes a smartphone ring. It supports Android 9 or later and Fast Pair.
Pixel Tag supports information sharing with up to 10 people. It also works with Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds, enabling users to trigger a sound and operate the device through voice instructions via Gemini.
