A newly built battery storage facility in Shibayama, Chiba Prefecture, began operations on 20 October. The site has 20 units with a storage capacity of approximately 8,000 kWh. The facility aims to support a stable power supply by storing electricity during the day and discharging it at night.
A new battery storage facility was completed in Shibayama, Chiba Prefecture, and began commercial operations on 20 October. Twenty units equipped with batteries have been installed on the site.
The storage capacity is approximately 8,000 kWh, equivalent to the daily electricity consumption of approximately 800 ordinary households.
While electricity supply tends to exceed demand during the day due to solar power generation and other sources, demand rises at night and power shortages are more likely. The facility balances supply and demand by storing electricity during the day and discharging it at night.
Tatsuya Yuki (結城 達也), deputy general manager of eREX's Aggregation Business Division, commented that battery storage capacity needs to be expanded as renewable energy continues to grow.
