A consortium of 3 companies led by River has been selected for a Ministry of the Environment-commissioned project. The consortium will conduct a demonstration of multistage sorting to horizontally recycle mixed aluminum scrap for use in rolled products.
A consortium comprising River, a consolidated subsidiary of TREホールディングス, Nippon Light Metal, a consolidated subsidiary of Nippon Light Metal Holdings, and Mizuho Bank, an affiliate of Development Bank of Japan, has been selected for the Ministry of the Environment's FY2026 commissioned demonstration project for overall optimization of renewable-energy-related products and base materials toward building a domestic resource-circulation system. Mizuho Leasing will participate as the partner company.
The project aims to verify the conditions required to produce, in Japan, recycled material for use in rolled products from mixed aluminum scrap, whose origins and properties vary and whose quality is inconsistent. River's wet gravity separation equipment will be used for pretreatment, and a multistage sorting process combining X-ray sorting and a LIBS sorter will be developed.
