Apple began distributing iOS 27 on 15 September, introducing new features centered on Siri AI. Support is initially limited to English, with Japanese expected to be added in October.
Distribution of iOS 27 began on 15 September, making it the latest operating system available for iPhone. iPadOS 27, watchOS 27 and macOS 27 were also released on the same day. New features centered on Siri AI are positioned as a major change, although Japanese support is scheduled for October.
iOS 27 supports all iPhone models from iPhone 11 onward and the iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later, with the A13 Bionic and later processors. However, being eligible for the update does not mean that all features will be available. New features including Siri AI are limited to all iPhone 16 and later models and the iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max.
Siri AI is described as being designed to understand personal context, expand its world knowledge and provide onscreen awareness, while also supporting actions across apps and continued conversations. Siri can perform tasks such as editing photos and composing emails, with history synchronized between devices via iCloud.
Japanese support will initially be unavailable, with English the only language offered at launch. The official list of supported languages includes 16 languages, including Japanese, but Japanese support is scheduled to begin around October.
