Yamato Holdings’ consolidated results for April–September 2026 showed a net loss of ¥10.5 billion, which widened due to higher personnel expenses and an extraordinary loss related to the transfer of a financial subsidiary.
Yamato HD announced on the 4th that its consolidated results for April–September 2026 showed a net loss of ¥10.5 billion, deteriorating from a net loss of ¥4.8 billion in the same period of the previous year. The factors behind the wider loss included higher personnel expenses and an extraordinary loss related to the transfer. The company has now reported a net loss for 3 consecutive years.
Operating revenue, equivalent to sales, was ¥906.8 billion, a marginal increase, while operating loss was ¥1.7 billion. In the core express delivery business, including parcel delivery, the average unit price rose 2.5%, but the number of parcels handled fell 4.7%, so profitability has not undergone a fundamental improvement.
The company also announced on the same day that operating revenue for the fiscal year ending March 2027 is expected to rise 2% year on year to ¥1.895 trillion, ¥23 billion below its previous forecast. It plans to curb costs and left its forecasts for each profit measure unchanged.
Over the medium to long term, the company plans to focus on improving the profitability of its express delivery business, while considering AI-based optimisation of routes and loading, increasing the proportion of its global business, and pursuing M&A in the forwarding business. It will also review unprofitable businesses, including ending operations of domestic cargo aircraft.
