Demae-can’s share price exceeded ¥4,000 at one point during the COVID-19 pandemic, but then declined over the long term and is now around ¥150. If ¥1 million had been invested at the time, the value of the investment would have fallen substantially.
Demae-can’s share price rose sharply during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. After trading in the ¥1,000 range at the start of the year, it exceeded ¥4,000 at times in December. Against a backdrop of rapidly expanding demand for delivery services, expectations for service expansion were reflected in the share price, following the announcement of a capital and business alliance with the LINE Group and plans for a ¥30 billion third-party allotment capital increase.
The share price subsequently declined over the long term, falling to around ¥400 in May 2023 amid changes in the COVID-19 infection situation. It is currently trading at around ¥150.
If ¥1 million had been invested in 2020 when the share price was ¥4,000, the investment would have comprised 250 shares. Valued at the current share price of ¥150, those shares would be worth around ¥37,500, representing a loss of approximately 96% of the original investment.
