The Nikkei Average opened on the 26th at ¥62,449.96, down ¥243.20 from the previous trading day. Selling prevailed initially against the backdrop of declines in U.S. markets and rises in crude oil prices and long-term interest rates, although some major stocks recovered after the open.
Among the most actively traded stocks by value on the TSE Prime Market after the open, Kioxia Holdings, Taiyo Yuden, Mitsubishi UFJ, Lasertec and FANUC rose, while Advantest, Recruit Holdings and Tokyo Electron declined. Services, retail and air transportation were among the sectors with the steepest declines. As a result, the Nikkei Average started sharply lower.
