Next week will bring a succession of key domestic and international events, including the US midterm elections, release of the BOJ meeting minutes and the US employment report.
The week beginning 2 November will feature monthly domestic economic indicators, including new vehicle sales, mini-vehicle sales and government bond auctions, as well as the release of earnings information for selected US companies attracting investor attention.
On the same day, overseas data releases will include China’s manufacturing PMI, Germany’s and the euro area’s PMIs, and the US manufacturing PMI. The release of indicators such as the US ISM Manufacturing Index will also be a notable event.
The US midterm elections will enter full swing on 3 November, while overseas earnings reports will continue from companies including AMD, AMGN, PFE, MAR, WMB and FOX. The domestic market, however, will be closed.
On 5 November, the minutes of the BOJ Monetary Policy Meeting are scheduled for release, along with October vehicle sales by model and information on a long-term government bond auction. In the US, the release of initial jobless claims, productivity indicators and the non-manufacturing activity index is also scheduled.
The US employment report and the University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index are expected on 6 November and, together with economic indicators from Europe and the US, will provide market-moving information.
