Amazon has refreshed four Kindle models in Japan. The new devices feature thinner, flat designs, color options and reduced weight, with prices announced and shipping scheduled to begin on 11 November.
Amazon announced four new Kindle models in Japan on 1 October. All models feature a flat front design, while some models are thinner, lighter and faster. They also feature displays designed to reduce light reflection and front lights. Four new colors were added to the adult models: Ube Purple, Alpine Sky Blue, Seaglass Green and Fig.
The new lineup consists of the Kindle 16GB, Kindle 32GB, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Colorsoft. The Kindle 16GB is the lightest model in the series, the Kindle 32GB features an aluminum back, the Kindle Paperwhite offers water resistance and long battery life, and the Kindle Colorsoft features a 7-inch color display and color-compatible content.
Amazon also launched two models, the Amazon Kids Kindle and Amazon Kids Kindle Colorsoft. The lineup includes a kids model with a black-and-white display and one with color support, while parents receive access to a parent dashboard. Each purchase includes one year of Amazon Kids+, providing unlimited access to more than 2,000 books.
