Sales of the EC White Paper 2026 have begun. The 2026 edition contains more pages than the previous edition and features updated and expanded opening features and data. Its author, Motoya Tomohiko (本谷知彦), discusses how to use the publication and how it is expected to evolve.
The EC White Paper 2026, a data book covering the e-commerce market, is now on sale and has been substantially expanded from the previous edition. It was jointly produced by デジタルコマース総合研究所 and 日本ネット経済新聞, incorporating revisions from the 2025 edition.
The publication’s author, Motoya Tomohiko (本谷知彦), has adopted a policy of explaining the e-commerce market on an evidence-based basis as a book that breaks down the market, rather than as merely a collection of data. The EC White Paper is intended to serve as a resource covering a broad range of e-commerce market themes.
In addition to updating the data to the latest version, the 2026 edition features an increased number of data categories and newly added opening features covering the e-commerce market transformed by AI, inflation and e-commerce, and categories attracting attention. Its volume has increased by approximately 20% from the previous year.
Going forward, the publication aims to become the definitive practical guide by enhancing analysis that combines quantitative and qualitative perspectives and adding marketing theory that can be applied in e-commerce operations.
