U.S. media giant Paramount Skydance announced on the 6th that it had completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. The new company will become a major media enterprise integrating film production, television, news and streaming operations under its umbrella.
Paramount reached an agreement on the acquisition in February this year, but 12 states, including California, had filed lawsuits seeking to block the deal. In response, an agreement was presented under which the company would be required to invest approximately $1.5 billion in the United States over five years as a condition of settlement.
The completion of the acquisition will create a new corporate structure combining Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, bringing together two of Hollywood's leading companies. The new company will be called Skydance, and the acquisition price is expected to be approximately $110 billion, or about ¥17 trillion.
