Canadian convenience-store giant Alimentation Couche-Tard (ACT) has announced the acquisition of Poland's Żabka Group. Revenue for the fiscal year ended April 2026 exceeded approximately ¥12 trillion, and the company has 17,267 stores worldwide, with North America remaining its core market.
In July, Canadian convenience-store giant ACT announced the acquisition of Żabka Group, Poland's largest convenience-store operator. The company has indicated that it plans to expand internationally through the acquisition.
Revenue for the fiscal year ended April 2026 was $76.5 billion (approximately ¥12.087 trillion), putting the company on a revenue scale comparable to major Japanese retailers. About 60% of revenue comes from the U.S. market, followed by Europe. At the end of the fiscal year, the company had 17,267 stores in 17 countries worldwide, including 9,356 in North America.
ACT has a high weighting toward fuel sales, with gasoline sales accounting for more than 70% of total revenue. In recent years, it has expanded its store network through an aggressive acquisition strategy, and its revenue growth over the past 22 years has averaged 14% annually.
A turning point in its acquisition strategy came with the purchase of U.S. Circle K in December 2003, which nearly doubled revenue. It subsequently acquired Shell's U.S. gas-station business and other assets, further strengthening its international expansion.
