Canal City Theater in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka, will be renamed クラフティア Theater effective 1 October. The new name was formally adopted following the acquisition of the naming rights.
Canal City Theater, located within Canal City Hakata, changed its name to クラフティア Theater effective 1 October. The theater opened in May 1996 and has hosted plays, musicals and concerts.
The theater had been renamed Canal City Theater in 2010. In August this year, クラフティア announced that it had acquired the naming rights. The latest name change was carried out following the signing of the agreement.
An opening commemorative press event was held, and クラフティア President Ishibashi Kazuyuki (石橋和幸) took the stage. The guest was actor Takaishi Akari (高石あかり), who serves as the company's image character.
The upcoming lineup is scheduled to include a Fukuoka production of the musical “Cats” in February next year.
