At the morning close, the Nikkei Stock Average had rebounded sharply, up ¥748.13 from the previous day at ¥64,823.55, while the market opened even stronger at ¥64,885.95, a substantial gain. As the rise in crude oil prices paused, buying back across a broad range of stocks progressed.
Across the market, 69% of stocks rose and 27% fell. Trading volume reached 1.00611 billion shares, and trading value was ¥3.4323 trillion. By sector, nonferrous metals, banks and precision instruments rose, while retail, rubber products and transport equipment were notable decliners.
Among individual stocks, SoftBank Group, Tokyo Electron, Advantest, Ibiden and TDK traded higher. SpaceX, the U.S. space company, reported earnings above market expectations, and its share price rose in after-hours trading, providing a buying catalyst.
At the open, the Nikkei started sharply higher, up ¥810.53 from the previous day at ¥64,885.95, with buying broad-based. Rising expectations for an easing of tensions in the Middle East and stability in crude oil prices provided support, and attention is focused on how the market develops.
