All 98 Olympic Group stores will be converted to formats including MEGA Don Quijote by the end of 2029. In the first phase, a total of 5 stores in Tokyo, Kanagawa and Saitama will be converted into MEGA Don Quijote or Robin Hood stores.
Olympic Group announced that it completed its transition to a wholly owned subsidiary of PPIH effective 1 July 2026, and that it plans to gradually convert all its stores to Don Quijote formats from December onward. Following the conversions, the stores are expected to be divided among several formats, including MEGA Don Quijote.
Under the plan, 56 stores will be converted to Robin Hood, 21 to MEGA Don Quijote and 21 to Don Quijote. The 5 stores in the first phase are located in Tokyo, Kanagawa and Saitama.
Robin Hood is a new retail format whose first store opened in April 2026. It aims to offer stores that are “like supermarkets, but not supermarkets,” combining daily necessities, cosmetics and character merchandise. The commercials feature actor Nagayama Eita (永山 瑛太) wearing a rabbit costume.
As the conversion to Robin Hood progresses, this expansion into the Tokyo metropolitan area for the first time could affect the competitive environment in neighboring areas.
