Komatsu raised its full-year forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027, but expects net income to decline 7.3% year on year. This article reviews its first-quarter results and the details of its shareholder benefits.
On 29 July, Komatsu raised its previously announced full-year consolidated earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027. The company cited the more limited-than-expected impact of lower demand in some regions due to the situation in the Middle East, the reduced impact of US tariffs, and the incorporation of the latest market outlook. The assumed average exchange rate for the full year was revised in the direction of a weaker yen, from ¥150.0 to ¥152.1 per US dollar. Revenue is expected to increase 4.1%, but operating profit is forecast to decline 2.2%, profit before tax 5.4%, and net income 7.3%, leaving the overall picture unchanged at higher revenue but lower profit. The dividend forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 is ¥190 for the full year, based on an interim dividend of ¥90 and a year-end dividend of ¥90. There has been no change from the previous announcement.
At the close of the Tokyo market on 17 August, Komatsu’s share price was ¥7,211, down ¥91, or 1.25%, from the previous day. Its PER was 18.3x, PBR was 1.82x, and the dividend yield based on the company’s forecast was 2.63%. Investors are monitoring the share price while watching quarterly progress. A 12-month chart is also available.
The shareholder benefit is a non-commercial miniature model of one of the company’s construction machines. It is available to shareholders holding at least 300 shares whose names have been continuously recorded on the shareholder register for 3 years or more as of the 31 March and 30 September record dates. One model has been released each year since 2015, with the latest, a miniature of an underwater construction robot, shipped in September 2025. The latest announcement concerns a miniature of the CD110R-3, the Kurukuru Dump, at a scale of 1/87.
