The cassette tape market event CASSETTE WEEK MARKET 2026 was held at WPÜ HOTEL SHINJUKU in Shinjuku as an official market event. Hosted by the Cassette Week Japan Secretariat, the event expanded its venue area and offered hands-on programmes including workshops and listening comparisons.
At the 電響社 booth, Maxell's UR-brand cassette tapes were exhibited, and the 60- and 90-minute sets sold out. Visitors also showed strong interest in vintage-style players capable of Bluetooth connectivity, and some purchased Bluetooth headphones as well.
In addition to demonstrations, catalogues, musical works and magazine pages featuring cassette tapes produced by Maxell in the past were displayed for reference, allowing visitors to trace the brand's history. 電響社 commented that interest is spreading beyond long-time fans to younger generations.
Visitors ranging in age from their 20s to their 70s attended the event, and many were seen enjoying cassette tapes as fresh gadgets.
