As European customs and environmental regulations undergo sweeping changes, NFIA held a seminar for Japanese companies in Tokyo amid an urgent need for them to review their supply chains. Experts explained the importance of closer Japan-Europe cooperation and key points to consider under the new systems.
The Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA), an agency of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, held the final session of its seminar on European logistics and environmental regulations for Japanese companies at Machinery Promotion Hall on the 16th. Akatsu Koichiro (赤津光一郎), Executive Director-General of the Japan Machinery Exporters' Association, delivered the opening remarks and urged attendees to address decarbonization and digitalization, drawing on the association's experience conducting surveys in the Netherlands. The event emphasized the need for attendees to adapt to the latest European systems.
Ed de Ronde (エド・デ・ロンデ), NFIA Representative in Japan, then highlighted the increase in trade since the Japan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement and the depth of ties between Japan and Europe. Citing the Netherlands' favorable tax system and investment network, he explained that investment from Japan into Europe is expanding via the Netherlands.
