Munakattan Arata (むなかったん・あらた), who has continued to pursue his two dreams of becoming a professional baseball player or a comedian, currently serves as a guest commentator on radio broadcasts of SoftBank games and is expanding his activities in both baseball and comedy. Since the 2022 season opener, he has followed every Hawks game and is aiming for nationwide recognition through a weekly review podcast and radio commentary. He places greater emphasis on communicating the appeal of watchable plays than on technical analysis.
As a child, he continued to dream of both baseball and comedy under his father's strict discipline, and first discovered the joy of making people laugh when he performed manzai at a school festival. In high school, he reached the national tournament in High School Manzai. In baseball, he was named to the Best Nine at Fukuoka University of Education and served as team captain. His pursuit of comedy led to his graduating top of his class from NSC Fukuoka.
His father and grandparents strongly opposed his move into comedy, but with his mother's support he pursued his dream and now works with the backing of his family. He received an apology from his grandfather, while his father, who once could not even attend New Year's gatherings, now checks his programs. His relationship with his family became a turning point, and his work as a comedian has also affected his daily life.
In December 2024, he changed the duo's name to "Munakattan," and a solo live show, "CREATE," based in Fukuoka was also scheduled for December of the same year. He says he intends to aim for nationwide recognition while making Fukuoka, his hometown, his base, and that his solo activities also contribute to the duo's work. His current career, balancing his two dreams of baseball and comedy, is expected to shape his future development.
