At CIFTIS, held in Beijing, 20 Japanese companies exhibited welfare equipment and nursing care products for older adults. Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited exhibited for the first time, showcasing its initiatives in the medical and healthcare fields.
The China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) was held at Beijing Shougang Park. The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) coordinated the participation of 20 companies this year, which showcased welfare equipment and nursing care products for older adults and other offerings. Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited also exhibited for the first time, presenting its initiatives in the medical and healthcare fields and the results of its research and development.
Sakisaka Hirotaka (匂坂拓孝), director of the External Affairs Department at JETRO’s Beijing Representative Office, told Xinhua that new opportunities were emerging for cooperation in services trade between Japan and China, and that particular attention was being paid to services for older adults. Demand for improved quality of life in the Chinese market was said to be increasing.
Japan has accumulated technology and experience over many years in nursing care and welfare services, products for older adults and health-related products. It was suggested that the potential for cooperation would expand if Japanese products and services were combined and developed in line with conditions in the Chinese market.
The expansion of China’s opening of its services sector to foreign businesses was also seen as beneficial to Japanese companies. It was assessed as important that this would broaden opportunities to enter the market and increase points of contact through which Chinese consumers could learn about Japanese companies’ products and services.
