岐阜プラスチック工業 subsidiary リスパック will invest ¥6 billion in its Kansai plant in Kasai, Hyogo Prefecture, and increase biomass container production capacity by 1.5x.
岐阜プラスチック工業 subsidiary リスパック announced that it will invest ¥6 billion in its Kansai plant, increasing biomass container production capacity from the current 1.0x to 1.5x. The investment is also intended to reduce dependence on petroleum resources as the risks associated with procuring naphtha feedstock increase.
The Kansai plant will add a biomass container molding area and an automated warehouse. The company will optimize staffing and advance the plant’s digitalization, strengthening the use of automation, AI and robots to improve production efficiency and stability.
Expansion work will begin in December, with full-scale operations targeted for 2028. Biomass containers currently account for 65% of all-plastic containers produced by リスパック, but the company plans to raise the ratio to 80% after the Kansai plant expansion. The Kansai plant began operations in April 2024.
The company currently produces plastic food containers using 9 materials across 4,600 items. After the expansion, these figures are expected to increase to 11 materials and 5,400 items. Against a backdrop of rising global investment in plant-based plastic feedstocks, efforts to develop feedstock supply systems are advancing.
