ニューブレクス, which provides structural fatigue assessment using optical fiber, announced plans to establish a new plant in Usuki, Oita Prefecture. The new plant will manufacture sensor cables in-house, bringing production currently outsourced to partner companies under the company’s own operation.
The investment will total ¥440 million, and the company is also considering building a second plant on the site. Through joint research with Kobe University, the company is also testing technology to visualize the risks posed by underground cavities, and plans to expand applications of optical fiber to detect minute ground vibrations.
Following proposals from Oita Prefecture and Usuki, the company is selecting the site for the new plant and preparing to begin operations in September 2027. It aims to expand sales of technology that identifies abnormal areas in structures using an inspection system combining measuring instruments and sensor cables.
