A 1-night, 2-day summer trip around Murayama, Yamagata Prefecture, with the Xperia 1 VIII in hand. The AI camera assistant’s sunset photography, 4K 60p video and automatic dual-SIM switching were tested in real-world conditions.
A 1-night, 2-day summer trip around Yamagata Prefecture covering approximately 260 km from Murayama Station was undertaken with the Xperia 1 VIII in hand. The purpose of the trip was to observe the Perseid meteor shower. A photography plan was developed while searching for locations with good views from observation decks, and a rental car was used for transportation.
The AI camera assistant proved useful for photography on location, and sunset scenes were captured using four suggested settings. Although the weather was unstable and the skies were often cloudy, attempts were ultimately made to capture sunset scenes and a meteor-shower timelapse at Chokai no Mori. A timelapse was also recorded using the α7R VI. The result was a collection of shots, including one showing a meteor, with a total of 135 stills captured over 2 days and 26 minutes of total recording time.
On the second day, the trip included visits to the Shikamura rice terraces and other sites on the way back to Murayama Station. The trip also included an open-air bath and ita soba, as well as a visit to the Mogami Tokunai Memorial Museum, providing an opportunity to learn about Murayama’s history. For connectivity, dual eSIMs were used, and the experience of maintaining stable connectivity while traveling around Yamagata Prefecture was recorded.
Finally, details were provided for a launch campaign running through 31 August that offers a shopping voucher worth ¥10,000, along with calculation tables for installment payments and residual-value credit. All features and tests were carried out using a single Xperia 1 VIII.
