SASSY Guide, a digital guide created from regional magazine content assets, has launched. Priced from ¥100 per guide, approximately 100 guides will be rolled out, beginning in the Tokyo metropolitan area, and partner recruitment has also been announced.
Starts Publishing Corporation has launched SASSY Guide, a digital guide that compiles regional magazines’ content assets into one guide per area, on SASSY, an outing and trip-planning app operated by its subsidiary RelyonTrip. The initial lineup is planned to include approximately 100 guides, primarily covering magazines from the Tokyo metropolitan area, and will be offered as one-day outing guides through integration with Google Maps.
Guides are priced from ¥100 each, with bundle sales also available. SASSY will edit the published articles for reuse, with no production or upfront fees. Purchases are completed in the app, and sales revenue is scheduled to be returned through a revenue-sharing arrangement.
The four publications participating in SASSY Guide are OZmagazine, Metro Minuets, SAVVY and KELLY, with expansion nationwide planned. The service will start with 3 regional magazine companies in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka, and partners are being recruited without requirements regarding area or years since launch.
SASSY has recorded 400,000 downloads to date. The initiative is designed to make ongoing use of regional magazines’ content assets in digital form and monetize them.
