The US dollar remained firm, with the US Dollar Index (DXY) up 0.25% at 99.68 amid inflation concerns and demand for safe-haven assets. In global markets, rising crude oil prices and renewed US-Italy tensions pushed bond yields higher.
As expectations for a US rate hike increase, the probability of a Federal Reserve rate hike in September is estimated at 68%. The August jobs report and CPI release are expected to inform next month's decision. The euro in the EU edged lower, while the yen also weakened slightly.
In the domestic market, the State Bank of Vietnam kept its reference rate unchanged at 25,610 dong and set the buying rate at 24,380 dong and the selling rate at 26,840 dong. Commercial banks' dollar exchange rates remained around these levels.
The dollar exchange rates for the euro and yen, along with trends in other currencies, were also reported. US interest rates and crude oil prices are among the key factors to watch in coming market developments.
