The second round of new menu items using Miradashi was unveiled in Izumisano City, with 14 participating restaurants announced, including 11 new and 3 returning restaurants. This brings the cumulative total to 19 restaurants.
Against a backdrop of rising numbers of foreign tourists visiting Kansai International Airport, Izumisano City is expanding the number of restaurants able to accommodate diverse dietary practices, including vegetarian and halal diets. In the second round, 11 new restaurants took part in developing new menu items using Miradashi, featuring a wide range of dishes from Japanese, Western and Chinese cuisine to ethnic food.
An unveiling and tasting event was held at Fuji Oil headquarters on 26 October, attended by Mayor Chiyomatsu and Fuji Oil President Omori, among others. Foreign residents were also invited to taste the dishes developed. Izumisano City and the Izumisano City Promotion Council are promoting dietary diversity and food accessibility in the region and supporting menu development.
Examples of menu items from the 11 new participating restaurants include amarsi99's healthy hamburger steak made with soy meat and enoki mushrooms. The 3 restaurants that had already participated continued to offer the same menu items as the previous year. Miradashi is characterized by cooking with plant-based ingredients while retaining the umami of Japanese cuisine.
The menus also include dishes made with locally sourced Senshu vegetables and water eggplant, highlighting the combination of diverse Japanese, Western and Chinese cuisine with local ingredients. The city indicated that it aims to continue expanding the number of participating restaurants and developing Izumisano's food culture.
