At the 2026 Japan Packaging Competition hosted by the Japan Packaging Institute, the Large and Heavy Packaging Category Award was presented among entries in packaging technology, including those from the Toyota group. The winning entry used standardized technology combining variable securing and a modular structure.
The winning design was recognized for reducing environmental impact and improving operational efficiency by changing the packaging material for air conditioners for small buses from wooden frames to corrugated cardboard. The change from conventional wooden-frame packaging is expected to reduce packaging-material waste and streamline assembly work.
With this award, the company has received an award at the Japan Packaging Competition for 10 consecutive years since 2017. It said it will continue developing packaging technology that contributes to reducing environmental impact and improving logistics efficiency.
