With support from Nihon M&A Center, Niigata-based 株式会社シマキュウ acquired Saitama-based screw specialist 株式会社トウヨーネジ. After overcoming cultural differences and spending 10 years developing its people and organization, the company recorded record-high performance in the previous fiscal year.
株式会社シマキュウ, based in Nagaoka, Niigata Prefecture, sells high-pressure gas and machinery and tools. Seeking to expand into areas where it had not previously operated and acquire new product lines, it acquired Saitama-based screw specialist 株式会社トウヨーネジ in 2013. 株式会社トウヨーネジ is said to have a customer base of approximately 1,000 companies, and President Shimada Takaaki (島田 隆昭) decided to pursue the M&A expecting synergies that could not be measured from the financial statements alone.
The transaction initially presented challenges, including cultural differences and inventory rationalization. However, by listening to employees in the field and steadily improving the working environment, the company developed a culture in which employees think and act independently. In 2025, the presidency changed to Uchida Kanako (内田 佳奈子), and more than 10 years of organizational development and operational improvements bore fruit as 株式会社トウヨーネジ’s performance in the previous fiscal year reached a record high.
Today, backed by the 株式会社シマキュウ Group’s network and management base, the company is pursuing its next investments, including automation and talent development, and charting growth that will sustainably open up the future of the region and its industries. The Nihon M&A Center Group is celebrating its 35th anniversary and expanding its track record in the number of M&A transactions in Japan and overseas.
