Sansha Electric Manufacturing Co.,Ltd. of Osaka has developed a 250 kW-class multi-use bidirectional DC/DC converter that can be used across applications including solar power generation, battery storage and water electrolysis. Up to 4 units can be operated in parallel for a maximum capacity of 1 MW, and the system is designed to continue operating through other modules if one module fails.
Sansha Electric Manufacturing Co.,Ltd. has developed a multi-use bidirectional DC/DC converter compatible with solar power generation, battery storage, fuel cells and water electrolysis systems. Each unit provides 250 kW of output and can be configured in parallel with up to 4 units for a maximum capacity of 1 MW. The modular design also improves operational continuity in the event of a failure and facilitates maintenance.
The product enables different DC/DC devices used for different applications to be standardised, and is optimised through settings made at the time of shipment, which is expected to reduce the burden of design and procurement. It is also suitable for DC microgrids combining PV, battery storage, fuel cells and water electrolysis systems.
Orders will begin in October 2026. Sales prices and delivery times will be provided through the company's sales contact. Parallel operation of 4 modules also enables future equipment expansion and redundant configurations.
The view has been expressed that the standardisation and modularisation of DC power sources and equipment will advance as global electricity demand grows and decarbonisation progresses.
