The new M6-powered Mac mini launches on 22 September 2026. Reports say the US price has changed from $599 to $899, while the GPU is approximately 71% faster than the M4. In Japan, pricing starts at ¥149,800.
The new Mac mini officially launches on 22 September 2026, and international media reviewed the hardware the day before release. MacRumors described it as “a good buy, but no longer ‘insanely great,’” and a similar trend was noted in Japan.
In the US market, the price of the M6 model has changed from $599 for the previous generation to $899, a $300 increase. A shortage of RAM and storage chips has been cited as the reason for the price increase. The Mac mini’s internal design also means that RAM and storage cannot be added later.
Benchmarks reportedly show a 71% GPU increase, a 24% single-core CPU increase and a 48% multi-core increase. Storage read/write speeds are also approximately double those of the previous generation, at around 3320; 6000–6400 MB/s. Initial benchmark results and real-world measurements are said to be broadly in line with each other.
In Japan, pricing starts at ¥149,800. Additional charges have been announced for upgrades to the M6 configuration, which features a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, as well as for memory and storage upgrades. The previous-generation M4 model started at ¥94,800, putting the difference at approximately ¥55,000. Meanwhile, the M6 and M5 Pro differ in their Thunderbolt specifications and maximum supported memory.
