A robot from Japan's GMO Internet Group made its debut at the World Humanoid Robot Sports Games in Beijing, completing the 400-meter track event in its first race. Using a modified model, it ran with a gait resembling that of a human and was carried away on a stretcher after crossing the finish line.
GMO Internet Group made its first appearance from Japan at the World Humanoid Robot Sports Games held in Beijing. The robot entered the qualifying round of the 400-meter track event as its debut race and finished in the 1:55 range.
The robot was entered after GMO independently modified one made by Unitree Robotics. A GMO representative, whose company acts as an agent for Unitree Robotics, presented it as a new initiative.
Takizawa (滝沢), a senior research engineer, described completing the race with a general-purpose robot as a positive result, while expressing the view that although the level of the Chinese entrants was high, they were not outstanding. Attention is also focused on developments going forward.
