Zensho Holdings began offering the QR code and barcode payment scheme “Smart Code” at approximately 5,290 stores operated by the company, including Sukiya and Hama Sushi. Supported code payment services include FamiPay, ANA Pay and bank-linked Pay services, which will become available at the participating stores. The move is intended to reduce the burden on stores by consolidating payment services.
Smart Code is positioned as a system that connects stores with payment providers through JCB’s provision of a payment information processing center and consolidation of merchant agreements. Following its introduction by Zensho, the use of code payments at the group’s stores is expected to expand.
Additional Smart Code-compatible code payment services, including teppay, are also scheduled to be added in stages, and the range of available mobile payment services is expected to expand over time. The timing of the launch of new supported services will be announced formally at a later date.
